Firefighters Control Aberdeen Blaze Off Route 40

Part of US Route 40 in Aberdeen was closed during rush hour due to fire activity.

A house fire near the Aberdeen MARC station was under control and roads were opening back up after a blaze off US Route 40 Monday afternoon, according to officials.

At 4:36 p.m., firefighters were called to the 100 block of South Philadelphia Boulevard for a reported house fire, according to the Harford County Volunteer Fire & EMS Association.

People were inside the home when the fire started but everyone got out without any injuries, the association reported.

Firefighters brought the blaze under control by 4:50 p.m., according to the report.

Route 40 was closed between Market Street and West Bel Air Avenue, the Aberdeen Police Department stated just before 5 p.m. Monday.

By 5:40 p.m., eastbound Route 40 was clear and one lane of westbound Route 40 was open, according to state transportation officials. By 6:30 p.m., all lanes were clear.

The fire marshal was investigating the cause.
