Former HdG Police Officer Promoted To Major: Harford Sheriff

HARFORD COUNTY, MD — An officer who started his law enforcement career in the Havre de Grace Police Department was recently promoted to the rank of major in the Harford County Sheriff's Office. He has been instrumental in construction projects such as the building of the southern precinct in Edgewood and current renovations happening at the sheriff's office headquarters in Bel Air, officials said.

Major Daniel Galbraith went into the Harford County Sheriff's Office Training Academy after completing service in the U.S. Army, according to authorities. That was in 1987, The Aegis reported.

He joined the Havre de Grace Police Department, then moved to the sheriff's office in 1989, according to the Harford County Sheriff's Office.

Galbraith was promoted to captain in 2010; and since his promotion to major in December, he has been the Chief of the Services and Support Bureau.

He has supervised much of the administrative support personnel in the Harford County Sheriff's Office, according to The Aegis.

"During his tenure, he has served in the Harford County Task Force, Internal Affairs, Patrol Operations and as a member of both the Special Response and Community Action Response Teams," the sheriff's office said in a statement. "As an administrator, he was instrumental in the building of the Southern Precinct and current Headquarters’ renovations."
