Grand First Friday Planned In HdG For Labor Day Weekend 2017

Labor Day weekend will kick off with a large celebration in Havre de Grace, with more than 100 vendors set to attend First Friday.

HAVRE DE GRACE, MD - The First Fridays celebration before Labor Day is set to be a big one in Havre de Grace. More than 100 vendors and businesses plan to participate, and organizers say live music will be ubiquitous.

Bring your appetite - in addition to outdoor seating at several restaurants, there will be a 5-pound milkshake drinking contest to celebrate the two-year anniversary of Vintage Cafe.

"Join us for the best First Fridays in Harford County as we kick off Fish, Fowl and Folk weekend here in Havre de Grace. We will be featuring over 100 vendors and businesses, 7 restaurants offering café seating, food trucks and a live band on every street!
"The kids will love our brand new kids-zone including a moon bounce and games! We will have author, Robert Lackey signing his new book in front of Washington Street Books and The Susquehanna Hose Company will be collecting non-perishable food items for the Havre de Grace Elementary School to help families in need."
"Don't miss the 2nd Birthday Celebration with Vintage Cafe! They will be hosting a 5 lb Milkshake Drinking Contest at 7pm and our very own Mayor Bill Martin will be the judge! There is always something for everyone at Havre de Grace First Friday!"

Several road closures will be in effect from 3 to 10 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 1:

  • North Washington Street will be closed from Congress Avenue to St. John Street
  • Pennington Avenue will be closed from North Lodge Lane to St. John Street.
  • Franklin Street will be closed from North Union Avenue to St. John Street and from N. Union Avenue to the parking lot of Backfin Blues. Union will remain open at all times. (Crossing guards will be present.)
  • St. John Street will be closed from Franklin Street to Green Street.
