Gravel Hill Road Fire Under Investigation

A fire that broke out in a junkyard in Havre de Grace is under investigation.
The Office of the State Fire Marshal reported that there was $5,500 in damage from the weekend blaze in the 4000 block of Gravel Hill Road.
A passerby reported the fire at 5:01 p.m. Saturday, according to the report.

Sixty firefighters—from Level, Susquehanna Hose Company, Bel Air, Aberdeen and Rising Sun—responded, bringing the blaze under control within 45 minutes, the report said.
Junked cars, a roll-back truck, farm machinery and other items were on the premises, according to the fire marshal, who reported that $5,000 in items were lost and there was $500 in structural damage at the property as well.

The Harford County hazmat team and Harford County’s Department of Inspections, Licenses and Permits assisted the fire marshal’s office at the scene.
Where and how the fire began are still under investigation, the fire marshal reported Sunday.
