Graw Days at Night Debuts

The daytime festival will extend into evening hours in downtown Havre de Grace.

Graw Days is growing up. Now in its fifth year, the festival celebrating Havre de Grace heritage is adding a nighttime component in the heart of downtown.

After the Oct. 13 daytime festivities (10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.), Graw Days at Night will follow on North Washington Street and Pennington Avenue from 6:30 to 10 p.m., transforming the area into a 1920s-style speakeasy.

Annapolis band Higher Hands will usher in Graw Days at Night with its blend of jazz and funk.

The Vineyard Wine Bar will also offer six craft beers and wine. Laurrapin Grille, Price’s Seafood, Coakley’s Pub and Tidewater Grille will have stations set up in a food court, along with cafe seating.

Opportunities for shopping will continue into the evening hours, with silent and live auctions.

There will also be “surprise entertainers," according to organizers.

It’s going to be “a rockin' street dance,” Irmgarde Brown, festival co-chair, told Patch.

Previously, the festival concluded and the after-party went elsewhere. Last year, there was a gala after Graw Days at Saint Patrick’s Church.

“It’s more beneficial to have it right downtown,” Brigitte Peters, manager of marketing and tourism for Havre de Grace, said of the new arrangement. “It’s hitting a younger demographic.”
