Harford County Boy Among Maryland's First Babies of 2015

Zion Dorthalina arrived on New Year's Day, two weeks ahead of schedule.

One of Maryland’s first babies of 2015 is from Harford County.

Zion Dorthalina entered the world at 3:16 a.m. on New Year’s Day, two weeks ahead of schedule, according to MedStar Franklin Square Medical Center, which welcomed him as he arrived.

The baby’s mother, Zyteisha Dorthalina of Edgewood, said Zion’s birth was “the best thing ever” to ring in the new year, according to WJZ.

Now the 7-pound, 7-ounce baby boy will go home to Harford County, where hospital officials said he has one sister and two brothers waiting for him.

Maryland’s first baby of the year—Lyne Charegho—arrived at 12:03 a.m. at Sinai Hospital, weighing in at 9 pounds and 1 ounce, according to WBAL, which reported her mother, Dounia Charegho, moved to the U.S. from Morocco last year.
