Harford County Opens Libraries as Cooling Centers
The heat index is expected to exceed 100 degrees this week.

In light of soaring temperatures throughout the week, Harford County is offering local libraries as cooling centers.
The local library branches will serve as places to beat the heat during normal operating hours.
The Havre de Grace Library is located at 120 N. Union Ave. (at the intersection of Union and Pennington) and is open 1–8 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 10 a.m.–8 p.m. Monday and Wednesdays and 10 a.m.–5 p.m. on Fridays.
The libraries will serve as cooling stations now through Friday, July 19.
All Harford County Public Library hours of operation are as follows:
Tuesday and Thursday:
- Havre de Grace Library, 120 N. Union Ave., open 1–8 p.m.
- Bel Air Library, 100 E. Pennsylvania Avenue, open 11 a.m.–8 p.m.
- Darlington Library, 1134 Main Street, open 3–8 p.m.
- All other branches open 1–8 p.m.
- Havre de Grace Library open 10 a.m.–8 p.m.
- Darlington Library open 3 - 8 p.m.
- All other branches open 10 a.m. - 8 p.m.
- Havre de Grace Library open 10 a.m.–5 p.m.
- Darlington Library open 1–5 p.m.
- All other branches open 10 a.m.–5 p.m.
