Harford County Sheriff's Department Warns Residents Of Phone Scam
The department has received complaints about phone calls from people claiming to be "deputies" who seek payments in cash and or gift cards.
HAVRE DE GRACE, MD – Harford County Sheriff’s officials are warning local residents to be aware of a scam in which people have placing calls while posing as sheriff’s deputies seeking money or gift cards.
In a social media post, the sheriff’s office said that the department has received complaints regarding receiving phone calls. Sheriff’s department officials wrote that residents will never be called by deputies demanding money to satisfy a warrant or other legal matter.
