Artists to Paint the Town in HdG Plein Air Painting Competition
The sixth annual Havre de Grace Plein Air Painting Competition starts Wednesday.

The sixth annual Havre de Grace Plein Air Painting Competition will put the creative process front and center this week.
Starting Wednesday, painters selected by the International Plein Air Painters Association will set up shop in downtown Havre de Grace with their easels and supplies.
Specifically, the artists will be "capturing images of historic buildings and the natural beauty of the Bay in various media," according to ArtUnion, the North Union Avenue gallery sponsoring the event.
During the three-day competition, artists may move locations to paint different things and can continue their work after sunset if needed.
Each participant will submit two framed images for judging by renowned plein air painter Kenn Backhaus.
Winners will be announced at a free 7 p.m. reception Saturday at ArtUnion (214 N. Union Ave.), which is a member-supported gallery with exhibitions rotating monthly. All submissions from the competition will be on display there from Sept. 15 to Oct. 25.
