Havre de Grace 2019 Election Deadline Nears

HAVRE DE GRACE, MD — Have you ever wanted to serve the city of Havre de Grace as a member of the city council? Or have you dreamed of running for mayor?

The 2019 election is May 7, and the deadline to file for candidacy is Tuesday, March 19.

Those who would like to run for office can file at City Hall with the director of administration at 711 Pennington Avenue from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. There is a filing fee of $100 for mayor and $50 for council.

To run for council or mayor, candidates must meet these criteria:

• Be at least 25 years old
• Have lived in Havre de Grace for at least two years before May 7
• Be a registered Havre de Grace voter
• Have been a U.S. citizen for at least 10 years
