Havre de Grace Celebrates Bike To Work Day 2018

Cyclists in Havre de Grace are celebrating Bike to Work Day earlier than those across the nation.

HAVRE DE GRACE, MD — While National Bike to World Day is officially on Friday, don't be surprised to see cyclists converging in Havre de Grace ahead of schedule. The city is hosting a Bike to Work Day event on Tuesday, May 15.

There will be a Bike to Work Proclamation, cyclists parade, bicyclists checkups, giveaways, WXCY presence and other festivities at the event on Congress Avenue at Hutchins Park slated to kick off Tuesday morning.

Bike to Work Day is a national campaign that celebrates bicycling as a healthy commuting option, while promoting public awareness of its safety and environmental factors. Organizers say the day helps raise awareness of the rules of the road for drivers, pedestrians and cyclists, and highlights the need to improve bicycle facilities to improve safety.
