Havre de Grace Coronavirus Closures And New Protocols Introduced
Havre de Grace Mayor Bill Martin said the closures and precautionary measures take effect immediately.

HAVRE DE GRACE, MD — After Gov. Larry Hogan announced measures the state is taking to curb the spread of the new coronavirus, the mayor of Havre de Grace rolled out guidance at the municipal level.
"The way in which we conduct ourselves during COVID-19 pandemic is vital for the overall health of our community," Havre de Grace Mayor Bill Martin said in a video message. "We must continue to conduct ourselves as responsible, compassionate citizens. Most importantly, we must lead by example."

"These actions will be evaluated daily," Martin said, "and will be lifted based on guidance from the State of Maryland Department of Health and the Governor’s Office."
Certain Facilities Are Closed
- Havre de Grace Community Center on Lagaret Lane is closed through the end of the month.
- Havre de Grace Opera House on Union Avenue is closed through the end of the month.
- Monthly meetings of city boards, committees and commissions are suspended until further notice.
Open With Precautions
- Havre de Grace City Hall will remain open and operational on Pennington Avenue. The mayor said measures will be in place to protect city staff and citizens:
- Those who enter should use hand sanitizer in the foyer or wash hands for at least 20 seconds in the restroom before engaging with city staff.
- Everyone will remain 6 feet apart.
- "If you are currently sick, or have experienced a fever in the last 48 hours, please do not enter City Hall," the mayor said.
- The Havre de Grace City Council Meeting will be held as planned at 7 p.m. Monday, March 16. Seating will be modified "to protect social distancing," Martin said.
- The Havre de Grace Visitor’s Center will remain open on Pennington Avenue.
While people can go to City Hall, citizens are strongly encouraged to conduct necessary business through phone, internet and email and avoid face-to-face contact if possible.

- For building permits, call Colleen Critzer at 410-939-1800 to discuss. Submissions can be handled electronically or be placed in the dropbox at the front entrance.
