HdG Elementary a Finalist in BGE Competition for $10K
Students put their own spin on the utility company's 'Wires Down' commercial.

BGE challenged area schools to remake one of its commercials, and Havre de Grace Elementary made the cut. Its 41-second video is in the running for the $10,000 grand prize.
The utility company designed what it dubbed the "Wires Down Video Challenge" to encourage children to think creatively—by coming up with a 30 to 45-second commercial—about electrical safety.
The contest was based on the "Wires Down” commercial that BGE ran in 2000, reminding children to steer clear of fallen wires.
With props, music, a mustache and BGE cape, students in the Havre de Grace Elementary School video submission have a lot going for them, but they still need help from the community.
BGE will be evaluating submissions across several categories, including the number of online votes they rack up.
Users can vote for their favorite videos until Dec. 8, according to Harford County Public Schools.
