Havre de Grace Ice Rink to Open Next Week
The city of Havre de Grace will offer a new winter attraction.

Citizens in Havre de Grace will get to open an early Christmas present.
The city will unveil its new ice skating rink at Hutchins Park on Thursday, Dec. 17.
For those who can hardly wait, the Havre de Grace Office of Tourism has started a countdown on its website.

When the rink is open (see the days and hours of operation here), nonprofits will run it and receive a portion of the proceeds.
During opening weekend, the Havre de Grace High School PTSA is in charge of staffing the rink with volunteers.

The rink was the brainchild of Mayor Bill Martin, a former hockey player, according to The Aegis.
The surface will be synthetic rather than real ice and is being installed Friday along with a sound system, the newspaper reported.

Skates are required to be on the ice. The city is charging $5 for ice skate rentals. Admission costs $5 for adults and $3 for children under 13 years old. Helmets are recommended, and people need to lock their belongings in their vehicles, as there isn’t any storage space at the rink.
The Havre de Grace ice rink will be on Congress Avenue in the area of Hutchins Park.
