Police: HdG Little League Grudge Sparks Bar Fight

One man ended up at Harford Memorial Hospital, the Havre de Grace Police Department said.

Havre de Grace police say they are investigating a weekend assault that occurred between adults regarding youth sports.

A 23-year-old Havre de Grace man told police that he was at Coakley's Pub around 11:45 p.m. Saturday when a stranger came up to him and punched him in the face, knocking him to the ground.

"The victim did not know who the individual was that struck him," Havre de Grace Police Department spokesman Pfc. Jeff Gilpin said.

"It is believed that this was from when they were playing in Little League," Gilpin said. "A long time for a grudge."

The victim was able to get up and walk the .6 mile from the bar to the hospital, and at 2:45 a.m. Sunday, police were called to Harford Memorial Hospital in reference to the assault.

There were visible injuries to the man's head and face, police said.

Authorities have identified one potential suspect, and the investigation is continuing.
