Havre de Grace Man Charged in Joppa Armed Robbery: Sheriff

The 21-year-old was one of three suspects in holdup, according to the Harford County Sheriff's Office.

A Havre de Grace man was one of two men charged in an armed robbery in Joppa this week, the Harford County Sheriff’s Office reported. A third suspect remains at large, according to the report.

Khalil Terraine Scruggs, 21, of the 400 block of Majestic Prince Circle in Havre de Grace, is charged with armed robbery; conspiracy to commit armed robbery; robbery; theft less than $1,000; two counts of first-degree assault; two counts of second-degree assault; and use of a firearm to commit a felony, according to court records.

The charges stem from an incident that occurred in a vehicle on Monday, Jan. 26, according to the sheriff’s office.

At 12:05 a.m. on Monday, deputies responded to an armed robbery reported in the 900 block of Rumsey Place in Joppa, the sheriff’s office said.

A 28-year-old man and a 29-year-old woman had been sitting in their vehicle when someone came up to the driver’s side and demanded they hand over what was inside the woman’s purse, according to the report.

Deputies canvassed the area and took into custody Scruggs and Briondre R. Gaines, 23 of Edgewood, the report said; both were charged with robbery with a firearm, theft, and assault.

Detectives are still working to locate a third suspect, according to the report.

Gaines was being held at the Harford County Detention Center without bail, and Scruggs was being held on $100,000 bail, according to the sheriff’s office. According to court records, Scruggs was released Tuesday.
