Havre de Grace Named Top Pick for New Year's Eve

HAVRE DE GRACE, MD - Coastal Living magazine has identified Havre de Grace as one of the top 10 places to celebrate New Year’s Eve in North America, citing the Duck Drop as a main attraction.

The magazine selected 13 coastal spots in North America where objects from a MoonPie (in Mobile, Ala.) to a golf ball (in Hilton Head, S.C.) fall from the sky as the page turns on a new year.

According to Coastal Living, Havre de Grace hosts the seventh best New Year’s party for its annual Duck Drop.

The Susquehanna Hose Company drops a handmade duck decoy from a ladder truck each year at the stroke of midnight, in a nod to Havre de Grace’s claim to fame as the decoy capital of the world.
