Havre de Grace Opens 7th Little Free Library
Have you seen the newest 'Little Free Library' in Havre de Grace?
HAVRE DE GRACE, MD - A city councilman built the newest Little Free Library for Havre de Grace, officials announced this week. It was installed behind the Havre de Grace Community Center at K9 Cody Dark Park.
It marks the seventh Little Free Library in the city. See the list of other locations near the end of the article.
Councilman David Martin constructed the newest library, which made up of a doghouse-shaped box, and then local artist Brittany Watson painted it.

The Little Free Library's motto is "Take a book, return a book." Anyone may take or donate a book.
The global program started in 2010 and has now mushroomed to include more than 50,000 Little Free Library locations around the world.

The first one in Havre de Grace was installed last summer by a student at Havre de Grace Elementary School. It has been housing and sharing books in Tydings Park.

Since the program began in Havre de Grace in 2016 to promote reading and pubic art, city officials say more than 2,500 books have been taken from the Havre de Grace Little Free Library.
These are the Little Free Library spots around town, Havre de Grace spokesman Adam Rybczynski told Patch:
- Union Avenue, in front of the Havre de Grace Opera House; 121 N. Union Ave.
- Tydings Park; Washington at Commerce streets
- Concord Point, along the new sidewalk area; 700 Concord St.
- Hutchins Park, along the walkway; 121 St. John St.
- Rochambeau Plaza; Washington at St. John streets
- The Lock House; 800 Conesteo Street
- K9 Cody Dog Park; 100 Lagaret Lane
“This has been a fun and worthwhile initiative,” Havre de Grace Mayor William T. Martin said. “The Little Free Library system our community is creating gives people access to free books while creatively enhancing our open-space areas.”
