Cash Register Stolen; Residential Burglary Attempt: HdG Police Blotter

Pepsi machine was vandalized, two iPhones were stolen and other crimes reported to the Havre de Grace Police Department this week.

The last week was a busy one for Havre de Grace police, with several break-ins, an armed robbery and a handful of assaults.

Armed Robbery
At 6:02 a.m. on July 15, police responded to an armed robbery in progress at the EZ Quick convenience store in the 800 block of Revolution Street. A 37-year-old Baltimore man was charged with multiple counts of armed robbery, assault, theft, malicious destruction of property, weapons offenses and false imprisonment as well as reckless endangerment. Burglary
Someone broke a glass door in the 100 block of St. John Street, then opened the door and took loose change estimated to be worth $17. The burglary was reported at 10:30 a.m. on July 13.

Frank's Pizza in the 1100 block of Revolution Street was burglarized, with the main cash register ripped from the counter and the office door kicked in. The suspect(s) pried open the rear door, then took a Nintendo Wii with three games, valued at $300, as well as an undetermined amount of cash from the register. The burglary reportedly occurred at 11 p.m. on July 12.

Attempted Burglary
A window lock was broken, and a curtain rod was unhinged at a residence in the 600 block of North Adams Street on July 15. The resident left at 8:45 a.m. and upon return at 12:30 p.m., found evidence that someone had attempted to break-in through a window on the south side of the building. It was not believed that the suspect(s) got inside.

Assault
An assault was reported in Hutchins Park off Congress Avenue at 10 p.m. on July 16. The incident started with throwing trash and ended with a man throwing a woman's knife into the water and hitting the hat off her head.

A sexual assault was reported in the 300 block of Commerce Street at 9:35 p.m. on July 13. The assault involved juveniles, and there was no further information.

A sexual assault was reported in the 700 block of Pulaski Highway at 6:24 p.m. on July 11. There was no information other than that it involved a juvenile.

Thefts
An iPhone was stolen from a boy's backpack while he played basketball in the 200 block of South Juniata Street at 7:30 p.m. on July 16. His gold iPhone 5, valued at $100, was in his book bag, which he left slightly open. When he returned form playing basketball, the phone—which had been under clothes and spare shoes in the bag—was gone.

Another iPhone was also stolen, in this case right in front of the victim's eyes, in the parking lot of Post Road Liquors, after a boy asked if he could use the victim's Phone. She handed it to him and he started to walk away. When she asked for it back, he continued walking away with the white iPhone, valued at $200, until he was out of sight. The theft occurred at approximately 10:25 a.m. on July 16.

Two people in dark clothing with a flashlight cut the lock on a Pepsi machine in the 300 block of North Adams Street with a tool. Officers found the coin box had been pried open. It was unknown how much money was taken in the theft, which was reported at 12:45 a.m. on July 14. 

Money from the launch drop box in the 500 block of Saint John Street was stolen, reported at 12:45 p.m. on July 13. Approximately $35 was stolen.

A bicycle was stolen from a front lawn in the 100 block of Vancherie Court, reported at 11:06 a.m. on July 13. The bike was estimated to be worth $40.

Mail theft was reported from the 800 block of Giles Street at 3:23 p.m. on July 11.

A check was reported stolen from the 500 block of Harbour Court. Someone had taken a check from the victim's checkbook, then cashed a check for $194.85. The theft was reported at 7 a.m. on July 11 and happened days before.
