HdG Carnival Raises $8K, Heralded As Success
Organizers said the Carnival on the Chesapeake raised funds to support the July 4 Havre de Grace events in 2018.

HAVRE DE GRACE, MD — The Havre de Grace "Carnival on the Chesapeake" has been deemed a success after its inaugural run in Tydings Park. The event, held from Oct. 19 to Oct. 22, was shifted from its traditional time slot during the week around the Fourth of July.
Despite shifting seasons, the carnival still has ties to the July 4 events in the city. It was sponsored by the Havre de Grace Independence Day Commission and will benefit the 2018 Havre de Grace Independence Day events.
The commission reported this week that it met its fundraising goal of $8,000, giving the following tally from the event:

- Unlimited ride Wristbands sold: 600
- Ticket sheets sold: 291
- Individual tickets sold: 2183
- Volunteers worked: 38
- Funnel cakes consumed: Too many to count.
- Happy, smiling faces: Too many to count
- Negative incidents or problems: 0
- Profit to the Havre de Grace Independence Day Commission: $8,000

The carnival was put together by the Havre de Grace Independence Day Commission in partnership with Houghton Enterprises of Cochranville, Pennsylvania.
