HdG Child Sex Abuse Suspect Arrested at Airport: Officials

Federal authorities intercepted a man at Dulles who was wanted by the Havre de Grace Police Department.

A man wanted by the Havre de Grace Police Department was taken into custody by U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents this week at Dulles International Airport.

Francois Nguessi Dame, 54, of Aberdeen, arrived on a flight from France on Wednesday, according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

Federal authorities verified that the Havre de Grace Police Department had several warrants out for his arrest for alleged sexual assault of a minor, officials reported.

He was arrested and charged with second-degree rape, continuing course of conduct sexual abuse of a minor, sex abuse of a minor and three counts of third-degree sex offense, court records show. The allegations are tied to incidents from Oct. 1, 2014, to March 15, 2015.

“The United States is a welcoming nation; however, [Customs and Border Protection] remains ever vigilant in intercepting those travelers that our laws identify as needing further scrutiny,” said Wayne Biondi, Customs and Border Protection Area Port Director for Washington Dulles.

According to a statement from U.S. Customs and Border Protection, its agents arrest an average of 21 wanted persons daily across the nation. Mostly they are inspecting currency, weapons, prohibited agriculture products and other illicit items, the statement said.
