HdG Expects Heavy Event Traffic, From Race To Food Truck Fest
Traffic alert: Multiple roads in Havre de Grace will be affected by weekend events, resulting in closures, detours and parking restrictions.

HAVRE DE GRACE, MD — Drivers should expect delays around the Hatem Bridge Saturday morning as well as throughout Havre de Grace due to weekend events. The Susquehanna River Running Festival, which is in its inaugural run, will result in the temporary closure of US 40 west at the Hatem Bridge.
The closure on the Hatem Bridge will be in effect from 7 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Sept. 15, the Maryland Transportation Authority advised.
The Susquehanna River Running Festival takes runners from Tydings Park across the Hatem Bridge to Perryville. There is a half-marathon and 5K race.

The race is slated to start at 8 a.m. on Saturday.
The following roads will be closed from 6 a.m. to noon:

- Union Avenue from Commerce Street to Otsego Street
- MD 155 east will be reduced to one lane upon entry to Havre de Grace
- Superior Street will be closed between Ohio Street and Juniata Street
- All traffic must use Ohio Street to US 40/Otsego Street
- Juniata Street will be closed between Superior Street and Otsego Street
- Commerce Street will be closed between South Stokes Street and Market Street
- US 40 east will be reduced to one lane from Lewis Lane to MD 222, including the Hatem Bridge
- US 40 east will be shifted into the US 40 westbound lanes from Otsego Street to MD 222
- St. John Street will be closed.
- Market Street will be closed between St. John Street and Commerce Street
- Girard St will be closed between Market Street and Concord Street
- Concord St will be closed between Girard Street and Lewis Lane
- Lewis Lane will be closed between Concord Street and Market Street
Cars will not be permitted to park on roads where there are "no parking" signs between 5 a.m. and noon.
The race is expected to finish at 12 p.m.
This is the detour when westbound US 40 is closed at MD 222:
- MD 222 to southbound I-95
- I-95 south to MD 155/exit 89
- MD 155 to westbound US 40
- Eastbound US 40 will be shifted onto US 40 west at the Ohio-Ostego Street intersection, back to US 40 east at MD 222
There are several events that city officials say will produce pedestrian and vehicular traffic this weekend:
- Susquehanna River Running Festival, 8 a.m.-noon on Saturday, Sept. 15.
- Havre de Grace Farmers Market, 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Sept. 15, at Hutchins Park.
- Citywide Yard Sale, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 15.
- International Food Truck Festival, noon to 6 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 16, at Hutchins Park.
In particular, city officials say the International Havre de Grace Food Truck Festival will draw a large crowd.
"You can expect a large amount of traffic in this area during this event," city officials said.
