HdG Farmers Market Plans Waterfront Move

The market will make a location change in July.

The Havre de Grace Farmers Market will set up as usual on Pennington Avenue this Saturday, June 6. Next month is a different story.

The city has granted the market permission to relocate to Hutchins Park starting in mid-July.

The city council considered moving the market when the season began in May, at the request of Havre de Grace Main Street, but vendors pushed back, stating there was a need to educate people about the new location, The Aegis reported.

Now the move is official.

“The Havre de Grace Farmers Market is moving to a new location next month!” market organizers posted on their Facebook page this week. “JULY 11 will be our first market at Hutchins Park....right on the water a short walk from our current location. It is a beautiful location!”

The market sells fresh produce, cheese and other goods each Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon, May through October.

Councilman Randy Craig suggested with the access to the waterfront, locals could bring their fresh catches to sell as well, according to The Aegis.
