HdG Special Election to Center Around Water Street Property
Citizens in Havre de Grace will determine whether to purchase $1.5 million of real estate on Water Street.

HAVRE DE GRACE, MD — There will be a special election in the city of Havre de Grace at the end of December so citizens can vote on the fate of property along Water Street that has been for sale for years.
Question A asks whether citizens would authorize the $1.5 million purchase of 627 and 649 Water Street. The city already put $400,000 down as a deposit to Harford County and would pay the remaining $1.1 million over 20 years.
"The Mayor and City Council intend to transform the property into a city waterfront park," according to the notice of special election. "Do you agree to the City's purchase of this property and approve the indebtedness on these terms?"
