Here is what the commission had to say about the newly named grand marshal:
Mr. Mentzer has been a resident of HdG since he was just 3 months old. A 1946 HdG high school graduate, he donated his time to the community for many years including organizations such as Little League, Susquehanna Hose Co, Masonic Lodge, American Legion, and the Decoy Museum. Noble not only served our community, he also served our great country by joining the Navy and fighting in the Korean War.
Mr. Mentzer was married to his late wife, Dorothy, for 60 years; he has 2 children, 4 grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren.
We could not be happier Noble Mentzer will be leading the parade as Grand Marshal for he is truly the epitome of a Hometown Hero!
