The city of Havre de Grace will illuminate the downtown blue for Detective Sean Suiter.

HAVRE DE GRACE, MD — The city of Havre de Grace is lighting up its downtown blue through the weekend. City officials said the act was to honor fallen Baltimore Police Detective Sean Suiter.

The homicide detective was conducting a follow-up investigation in west Baltimore when he was gunned down Wednesday by a man whom he approached in a vacant area among rowhomes, police said. Suiter was an 18-year veteran of the Baltimore Police Department who died from the gunshot wound to the head around midday Thursday.

"This evening, and throughout the weekend, the City of Havre de Grace will illuminate its downtown district blue in honor of fallen Baltimore Police Detective Sean Suiter," Havre de Grace city officials said in a statement. "We sincerely ask everyone to keep Detective Suiter and his family in your most heartfelt prayers."
