HdG Man Charged With Drug Dealing

Police said a Havre de Grace man had packaging materials and marijuana in his apartment that suggested drug distribution.

HAVRE DE GRACE, MD — Serving a warrant on Washington Street in Havre de Grace led to the recovery of more than 130 grams of marijuana, according to police. Officials said packaging materials and cash in the residence also distribution.

Jelani Malcolm Currie, 21, was arrested and is being held without bail, court records show.

Currie, of the 100 block of North Washington Street, was taken into custody after a brief foot chase, police said. Officers apprehended him and found two clear sealed bags of suspected marijuana on his person, then executed a search warrant at his apartment and found 135.7 grams of marijuana, according to authorities.

The Havre de Grace Police Operations Unit received assistance from the Harford County Municipal SWAT team in executing the search and seizure warrant.

Currie was booked on Jan. 27 and is being held without bail at Harford County jail. He is slated to appear for a preliminary hearing in Harford County District Court on Feb. 21, according to court records.

He faces 11 charges, including possession of marijuana, possession of drugs other than marijuana, possession with intent to distribute, drug manufacturing, keeping a common nuisance and related offenses.
