HdG Man Charged In Knifepoint Robbery

Police said the armed robbery occurred on Warren Street in Havre de Grace.

HAVRE DE GRACE, MD — A Havre de Grace man was charged with armed robbery and other offenses after police said he tried to hold up a taxi business in the 600 block of Warren Street.

Galvez Sheppard, 39, is accused of going into the business at 9:50 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 21, showing he had a knife and demanding money.

Police said that the victim, who knew Sheppard, began screaming and told him to leave, at which point he left.

Havre de Grace police found Sheppard shortly thereafter in the 400 block of South Juniata Street, in front of the Royal Farms store, and placed him under arrest, according to officials.

Sheppard, who court records show lives in the 500 block of Congress Avenue, was charged with armed robbery, robbery, second-degree assault and using a dangerous weapon with intent to injure.

As of Tuesday, Sheppard was being held without bail at the Harford County Detention Center. He was scheduled to appear for a preliminary hearing in Harford County District Court on Nov. 21.
