HdG Man Wins $15K Playing Army Numbers On Lotto Ticket

A Havre de Grace man has won more than $50,000 playing the lottery in recent months.

HAVRE DE GRACE, MD — A Havre de Grace man is more than $15,000 richer after playing a lottery game with numbers that appeared to him in a dream. He works at Aberdeen Proving Ground, according to the Maryland Lottery.

Richard Joyner played the numbers 4,8, 5 and 6 — numbers that he sees frequently at APG, where Form 4856 is used to process developmental counseling information. Joyner sees the forms frequently in his work with the Army as soldiers go through training, he told lottery officials.

“I’ve dreamt of numbers from dates, events and sports all my life," Joyner, 51, said in a statement. "I just try to use them to my advantage."

According to the Maryland Lottery, he also had a big Racetrax win of $39,697 in September 2018. He used that money to take his family out to a Brazilian restaurant.

Since Joyner purchased his winning ticket at the Aberdeen Sunoco, 607 South Philadelphia Road, the retailer will get a $152.52 bonus, equal to 1 percent of the prize, according to lottery officials.
