HdG Mayor: Some Plowing May Not Begin Until Sunday
Parking is banned on various roads in Havre de Grace for snow emergency; residents in some areas advised plowing may happen Sunday.

The city of Havre de Grace urges citizens to stay off the roads, joining a host of state and county officials also asking people not to drive on Saturday.
Harford County is likely to receive up to 22 to 30 inches this weekend and is under a blizzard warning until 6 a.m. Sunday.
“Our number-one priority is safety for our citizens,” Mayor Bill Martin said in a statement. “I urge you to please stay off the roads so our city crews, police, fire and EMS personnel can safely do their jobs.”

Parking is not allowed on the following roads, except for emergency vehicles, according to the city of Havre de Grace:
Additionally, cars may not be parked on designated snow emergency routes.

City crews will be working in 12-hour shifts throughout the weekend to clear roads, with snow emergency routes cleared first.
“For those of you living on side streets and developments, I ask that you please be patient as your streets may not be cleared or treated until the end of the storm, early Sunday,” Martin said.

There are steps citizens can take to expedite street clearing, according to Martin:
- Park your vehicles in your driveway where possible.
- Wait until snow plows have gone by at least once to start shoveling.
- Shovel to the right of your driveway to help you from being plowed in again.
- Do not shovel your snow into the roadway. This is city code.
He reminded citizens to secure trash cans and outdoor furniture and to pull outdoor basketball nets from the curbs.
In addition, those using generators should keep them outside.
“And lastly, be mindful of your elderly or disabled neighbors. Lend a helping hand,” Martin said. “Together we will weather this storm. Thank you and be safe!”
