HdG Opera House Opening Week Begins

HAVRE DE GRACE, MD — The Havre de Grace Opera House will reopen this week, after an extensive renovation.

Upgrades include updated utilities, sound and lighting; expansion of the theater from 120 to 200 seats; renovation of the rehearsal space and dressing rooms; addition of a first-floor box office and mixed-use space; and compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act.

Since 1871, the opera house has served as everything from City Hall headquarters to a public school. The city's plan now is for it to serve as a cultural center where arts groups can perform and others may meet.

In keeping with that purpose, the Tidewater Players and several other groups will usher in the grand opening with a series of dramatic performances. See the full schedule and get tickets.
