HdG Police: Two Drivers Charged with Drinking, Driving Over Weekend

One driver caused a minor crash on Route 40, Havre de Grace police said.

Police said two drivers were charged with driving under the influence over the weekend within one block of another on US Route 40 in Havre de Grace.

At 8:06 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 18, a Florida man charged with DUI caused a minor crash on Route 40, according to Havre de Grace Police Department spokeswoman Julie Morgan.

The man had been driving in the 900 block of Pulaski Highway/US 40 when he moved from the turn lane into the travel lane, hitting another vehicle, police said.

There were no injuries, but the incident did cause minor damage, according to the report.

The driver—a 54-year-old man from Hernando, FL—was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving while impaired by alcohol and negligent driving, Morgan said.

In the second weekend DUI incident on Route 40, a Havre de Grace man was charged.

At 8:24 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 17, the man was pulled over in the 800 block of Pulaski Highway.

Police said the 70-year-old man from the 600 block of Concord Street was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving while impaired by alcohol and driving while impaired per se.
