HdG Postpones First Friday for October

Due to impending weather, Havre de Grace merchants take a rain check on street festival.

With rain in the forecast for the foreseeable future, the city of Havre de Grace announced Wednesday afternoon that outdoor First Friday activities are canceled.

That includes the traditional street festival and cafe seating at downtown restaurants.

The Harford County Liquor Board on Wednesday ruled that the restaurants’ permits to serve alcohol outside at locations such as Coakleys and the Vineyard Wine Bar would carry over to the following Friday, Oct. 9, which is the rain date for the event.

October’s First Friday is generally the last outdoor street festival of the season, as the celebrations take place May through October.

According to the city, all indoor First Friday activities will continue as planned this Friday.

The American Legion in Havre de Grace will have a gathering in its lounge Friday, Oct. 2.
