HdG Studio in the Spotlight at Wedding Show

One Havre de Grace store drew the attention of The Baltimore Sun at a weekend wedding expo.

The stationery sold by Glyph Art and Design Studio was photographed by the Sun and included in its coverage of the second annual Gay and Lesbian Wedding Expo. At the Jan. 27 event in Baltimore's Tremont Suites Hotel, the Sun featured Glyph's "Mr. and Mr." and "Mrs. and Mrs." stationery in addition to the store's mannequins holding the cards in their respective tuxedo and gown.

Havre de Grace Patch previously featured the cards, which are sold at Glyph and made by Washington-based Farewell Paperie, in its 2012 coverage of Harford County's preparation to issue same-sex marriage licenses.

With the passage of same-sex marriage in Maryland, Glyph's owners—Havre de Grace City Councilman Joseph Smith and George Mason University professor Don Starr—have become media darlings.

Since their midnight wedding at Concord Point Lighthouse in Havre de Grace, the attention surrounding the couple has not yet dimmed. The Washington Post, WJZ Channel 13, Washington Blade, The Aegis and WBAL have also featured them in recent months.

With same-sex marriage now legal in Maryland, The Huffington Post reports that businesses like Glyph will continue to benefit, with an estimated $62.6 million in additional wedding spending on the horizon for the state over the next three years.
