HdG Thanksgiving Volunteers Wanted For Community Meal

Want to help serve others on Thanksgiving in Havre de Grace? Volunteers are needed to help with four aspects of the community meal.

HAVRE DE GRACE, MD — The Community Projects of Havre de Grace is coordinating Thanksgiving for those in need of a meal on Thursday, Nov. 23. The 2017 feast will be held from noon to 2 p.m. that day, and volunteers are needed to help put the event together.

Volunteers served more than 1,300 meals in 2016 to people in Harford and Cecil counties, organizers say.

For the 2017 Thanksgiving meal, volunteers are needed for the following on Thursday, Nov. 23:

  • 8:40 a.m.-10:30 a.m.: Set up
  • 10 a.m.-2 p.m.: Transport guests
  • 10:30 a.m-2 p.m.: Deliver meals
  • Noon-2 p.m.: Serve meals

The Havre de Grace Thanksgiving meal will be at the Havre de Grace Community Center, 100 Lagaret Lane. It will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., according to The Aegis, which reports chefs from area restaurants will cook the turkey and gravy at the American Legion Post 47 on Saint John Street days before Thanksgiving, while the rest of the meal will be prepared at the community center.
