Helicopter Responds To Route 40 Crash: Susquehanna Hose Co.

A wreck on Route 40 sent one person to shock trauma Tuesday, the Susquehanna Hose Company reported.

HAVRE DE GRACE, MD — One person was flown to shock trauma early Tuesday morning after a high-speed crash on US 40/Pulaski Highway, officials said. A vehicle had been speeding in the 2100 block of Pulaski Highway when it hit a tractor-trailer and came to rest in the median, authorities reported.

After 12:30 a.m., the Susquehanna Hose Company reported responding to the wreck, which caused the roof to be pulled off the vehicle.

Immediately upon assessing the person inside, first responders said they called for a medevac at the scene.

The hose company said its crew assisted Aberdeen medics in caring for the victim and securing a landing zone for the Maryland State Police helicopter, which took the injured person to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center for treatment.

The Susquehanna Hose Company said it had multiple crews at the scene until 1:30 a.m. One of its crews remained there until 2:30 a.m. providing lighting for police, according to officials.
