House Fire On Mohegan Drive Ruled Accidental

The fire marshal has completed an investigation into the townhouse fire that broke out Thursday night in Havre de Grace.

HAVRE DE GRACE, MD — A townhouse fire on Mohegan Drive Thursday night was ruled accidental. Investigators said that the electrical fire caused $5,000 in damage.

At 6:30 p.m., officials said a resident of the three-story home in the 1700 block of Mohegan Drive discovered the fire. Although there were smoke and fire alarms in the house, authorities said neither activated.

About 20 firefighters from the Susquehanna Hose Company responded and brought the fire under control within 20 minutes, according to the fire marshal.

The origin of the blaze was traced to a space between the siding and structure of the house around the garage, the fire marshal reported.

The fire was deemed accidental due to an electrical event.

While there was $5,000 in structural damage, officials said there was no damage to anything inside the residence, and nobody was injured.
