Jean Harriet Mears, 84
A funeral service for the Havre de Grace volunteer extraordinaire will be Wednesday.

When Jean Harriet Mears passed away Sept. 7, Havre de Grace lost one of its luminaries.
Mears, who was 84, volunteered at the Havre de Grace Visitors Center, for Ripken Stadium and the Havre de Grace Christmas Committee; headed up the Soroptimist Club; helped get the Havre de Grace Police Department and Community Center built; directed the Aberdeen Chamber of Commerce from the 1990s until 2004; and donated land where she and husband David had a construction business so the Havre de Grace Ambulance Corps could have a space, according to her obituary.

A viewing will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Zellman Funeral Home; 123 S. Washington St.
The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Presbyterian Church of Havre de Grace; 551 Franklin St. Donations may go to the Presbyterian Church of Havre de Grace.
