HdG Business Owner Thanks Susquehanna Hose Company for Wedding Rescue
La Banque de Fleuve made a gesture of gratitude to the Havre de Grace fire company.

After the Susquehanna Hose Company scooped up a pair of newlyweds stranded at Concord Point Lighthouse and delivered them safely to their reception in downtown Havre de Grace last weekend, La Banque de Fleuve owner Kim Barth said she wanted to do something to show her appreciation.
"We were all waiting for the bride and groom; nobody really knew what was taking so long," said Barth, whose banquet hall hosted the reception Saturday. "All of a sudden, I saw the firetruck come down Saint John Street."
The limo driver who took the bridal party to the reception neglected to return for the bride and groom. Witnessing the situation during a crab feast at the Havre de Grace Maritime Museum, the Susquehanna Hose Company gave them a lift on a firetruck.
"I think that everyone at our crab feast was thinking the same thing when they realized they needed a ride," Susquehanna Hose Company Chief Scott Hurst said, adding that the firefighters were "honored to help out."
To show her appreciation, Barth offered her banquet hall to the hose company for a future event, free of charge.
"I really wanted to do something to pay it forward," Barth said. "I was so just blown away by their generosity and the kindness."
With the donated space at La Banque de Fleuve, the Susquehanna Hose Company plans to hold a holiday party for House 5, the crew that rescued the bride and groom, downtown in December, according to Hurst.
"I think it's going to be a Christmas party for them and their families because they spend so much time away from their families on our behalf," Barth said. "I’m always impressed with our community and how many wonderful things they do on a regular basis so it shouldn’t come as a surprise, but it still did."
She added: "That could've been a really long walk in heels!"
