Last Day Of School Could Change With Waiver Approval

Harford County Public Schools has requested a three-day waiver from the state, which would change the last day of school for the district.

HARFORD COUNTY, MD — The county board of education has approved Harford County Public Schools' three-day waiver request. Now the request moves on the state level after the district used seven inclement weather days already this academic year.

If approved, the last day of school would change from June 25 to June 18. Schools are closed June 23 to be used as polling sites for primary elections.

According to Katie Ridgway, chief of staff for HCPS, the school district has exceeded the required 1,080 learning hours for elementary students and 1,170 for secondary students, the The Baltimore Sun reported.
