Lee Murdock: Songs from the Great Lakes
The folksinger comes to the Maritime Museum on March 31st.
Lee Murdock’s music evokes a sense of place, one that is universal – with his timeless repertoire that celebrates the North American people, their triumphs and tragedies, work songs and pastimes.
He’s grounded in the work song tradition, a carry-over from the rugged days of lumberjacks and wooden schooners. More than anything else, he finds drama and inspiration in the lives of sailors, fishermen, lighthouse keepers, ghosts, shipwrecks, outlaws, and everyday heroes.
Lee says: “I make music that’s exciting for people today, and not only for those who already enjoy folk music, but for those who think they don’t like it.”
A seasoned player of six- and twelve-string guitars, he combines ragtime, Irish, blues and folk styles with his flair for storytelling in songs. Come hear him combine his originals with covers of beloved traditional tunes.
