Level Road Barn Fire Under Investigation

The fire marshal gives an update on the barn blaze off Level Road.

HAVRE DE GRACE, MD — Fire that broke out on Level Road Thursday caused $5,000 in damage, according to the Office of the State Fire Marshal.

At 1:46 p.m., the owner of the property in the 2000 block of Level Road discovered the fire, prompting approximately 30 firefighters to respond, officials said.

It took about 45 minutes to bring the blaze under control, according to the fire marshal, who said there were no smoke alarms or fire alarms in the 40-by-20-foot pole barn.

There was $5,000 in structural damage, officials reported. Nobody was injured, the fire marshal said.

The cause and origin of the blaze remained under investigation Friday morning.
