Lieutenant Governor Gets Grand Tour Of Havre de Grace
The city of Havre de Grace received a special guest on Wednesday when Lt. Gov. Boyd Rutherford came to town.
HAVRE DE GRACE, MD — Lt. Gov. Boyd Rutherford visited Havre de Grace on Wednesday. He toured the city with local dignitaries and discussed its future.
Rutherford was in town to head up the Opportunity Zone Leadership Task Force. The task force meets in various regions around the state to strategize how the state and local governments can best invest in and develop the community.
Wednesday's meeting took place in the Cultural Center at the Opera House on Union Avenue.

Before the meeting, senior leadership from the city and Rutherford conferred about what city officials said was a "comprehensive strategy for the city moving forward, including the future of Harford Memorial Hospital."

Upper Chesapeake Health plans to move out of the hospital on Union Avenue and build a new campus on MD 22 in Aberdeen. The goal is to move in 2021.

Capping off Wednesday's visit, Mayor Bill Martin presented Rutherford with a Havre de Grace book.
