On July 1, 2008, Havre de Grace was officially named as an Arts and Entertainment District by the State of Maryland. Four short months later, after much needed renovations at 500-B Warren Street, the Arts by the Bay Gallery opened. The Gallery was born out of the efforts of Havre de Grace Main Street, Inc. along with many individual supporters. For the past five years it has showcased the work of Harford County artisans consisting of sculpture, painting, photography, jewelry and more. One of the most interesting features of the Gallery is its “co-op” nature, with the artists themselves being responsible for manning it during business hours.
On the weekend of November 15 through 17, the Arts by the Bay Gallery will be celebrating its five year anniversary with a grand series of events. It all gets kicked off at 7:00 pm on Friday night (November 15th) with the two-hour Gala Reception, serving a buffet provided by the Laurrapin Grille and a cash bar with signature drinks, beer and wine. Tickets for the Gala are only $20 and are on sale at the Gallery or at the Havre de Grace Visitor’s Center.
But it does not end with the Reception. On Saturday the Gallery has assembled a line-up of artistic demonstrations not to be missed:
