Longtime Emergency Responder Dies At MD Firefighter's Convention

A former firefighter and EMT in Harford County died while attending the Maryland State Firefighter's Association Convention with his wife.

HARFORD COUNTY, MD — A former longtime firefighter and EMT in Harford County passed away while attending the Maryland State Firefighter’s Association Convention in Ocean City.

Harford County Volunteer Fire and EMS Association President Thomas G. Schaech shared the news on the association's Facebook page.

"It is with deep regret that the Harford County Volunteer Fire and EMS Association announce the passing of Kenneth R. Streb," Schaech wrote.

Streb, 62, died Tuesday. Although he was no longer an active emergency responder, he supported his wife, Susan, an active member of the Havre de Grace Ambulance Corps, and was helping her at the convention to which she was a delegate.

Streb served 19 years as a member of the Havre de Grace Ambulance Corps, was a former member of the Susquehanna Hose Company and a past member of the Harford County Volunteer Fire and EMS Association Honor Guard, a position he shared alongside his wife.

"Arrangements are forthcoming. Please keep the Streb family, the members of the Havre de Grace Ambulance Corps, and our emergency services family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time," Schaech wrote.
