Main Street Names a New President

Havre de Grace Main Street organizes local events and supports local businesses.

Billee Smith has been named the new president of Havre de Grace Main Street.

An email to Main Street members Friday made note of the change, which took place June 14.

Smith replaces Bill Price, who is currently in Florida for business. Smith was the vice president and the interim president under Price.

The Main Street Board voted 11-0 to elect Smith as president at the June 14 board meeting, after a statement from Price was read announcing his resignation. According to an email to Main Street members, Price "stated he was concerned about the ongoing temporary status of his position and the affect on the Board, as well as the members of Main Street."

The message continued:

"To Bill Price we offer our heartfelt thanks for all he has done for Main Street as President, and look forward to his continued involvement in the future.  We know Bill's heart is still with Main Street and Main Street members look forward to his return.  Bill will still hold a Board position and upon his return be an active member again."

A new vice president will be elected by board members within the next week, according to the email.
