Man Dies in Police Custody after Chase, Tasing
Harford County sheriff's deputies pursued the man from Joppa to White Marsh, Baltimore County police reported.

A man who led officers on a chase Wednesday night from Harford to Baltimore county in a red pickup truck died in police custody, according to a statement from the Baltimore County Police Department.
At 8:02 p.m., deputies from the Harford County Sheriff’s Office attempted to stop a red Ford Ranger pickup truck near MD Route 7/Philadelphia Road and MD Route 152/Mountain Road, the statement said.
The man did not stop and continued to drive west on Philadelphia Road into Baltimore County, where he turned north onto Cowenton Avenue, according to the statement.

Harford deputies notified Baltimore County police of the situation.
After the man drove around the traffic circle at East Joppa Road and Cowenton Avenue in its entirety, exiting back onto Cowenton heading south, he drove across the median and hit a marked Baltimore County police cruiser, rendering both vehicles inoperable, according to the statement.

Harford deputies attempted to arrest the man, who resisted, and as a result, the deputies tased him, police said.
Once he was handcuffed and talking with the officers, the man began to have a medical emergency, according to police. He was given first aid and Baltimore County paramedics responded but he was ultimately pronounced dead at 9:05 p.m. at an area hospital, police reported.
The man may have ingested drugs, according to police, who said the body will undergo an autopsy at the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. His identity has not been released pending next of kin notification.
Baltimore County officials reported that the county’s homicide detectives were investigating since the incident occurred in their jurisdiction.
