Marie Faith Waldon, 86, of Havre de Grace

Obituary and service information from Lisa Scott Funeral Home.

Marie Faith Waldon, 86, of Havre de Grace, passed away on Feb. 28, 2018. She was the wife of the late Robert Lee Waldon, who preceded her in death in 2004.

Born April 9, 1931, in Bel Air, she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Sarah Mabel (Smith) Jackson. Marie was affectionately known as “Baby doll” to all who knew her. She worked many years at Bata Shoe Company, Ames Department Store, and Monsanto. She was an avid sports fan. She loved the Baltimore Orioles, the Ravens, and could hardly wait for the Summer Olympic events to watch her favorite…..Track and Field.

She enjoyed telling her children and grandchildren about the times she ran track in high school and breaking the indoor record for the 60-yard dash at Morgan State College during her freshmen year. She shared the title of “valedictorian” in her senior year with another classmate at Central Consolidated High School and always boasted that she never missed a day of school for 12 years.

Marie was better known as a “family nurse.” If you were sick, she would find a way to come to your bed side and nurse you back to health. She took pride in caring for others, especially family members. She also loved “roses.” If you had to walk pass her house, you had to walk out into the street, rather than use the sidewalk, because her rose bushes covered the complete path of the sidewalk directly in front of her house. Everyone loved the beauty of her roses, but it was also out of respect that no one would take a rose without her permission. Marie loved to dance, smoke cigarettes throughout the day, and if you catch her at the right time, you could join her with a small glass of Scotch to cap off the evening (smile). She never had her driver’s license, but she knew how to get around. Just ask cousin Earl; he would say: “Every time I stopped by to see aunt Babydoll, she would be out walking somewhere. For a person who does not have a car, she really knows how to get around.”

Marie is survived by her sister Sally Greene (Calvin) four daughters, Yolanda Presberry (Lloyd), Deborah Waldon, Carolyn Haines (Roland), and Rhonda Savoy (David); Two sons, Alvin and Robert Waldon, daughter-in-law Makeela, Grandchildren; Marsha, David, Ashley, Mia, Wesley, Femina, Layla, Leticia, Nyra, Roland, Jr., Brandon, Adam, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends…..too numerous to mentioned. She was preceded in death by sisters, Mildred Dorsey (Sis), Hazel Waldon, Lucille Peaker, Mary Taylor, Hester Fisher and Clarise Giles; Brothers, Herbert and Samuel Jackson (Sonny Boy).
