Marion George 'Sockie' Price Jr., 70

Marion George “Sockie” Price, Jr. of Bel Air, passed away surrounded by the love of his family at the University of Maryland Medical Center on Dec. 11, 2016. He was 70 years old. He is survived by his devoted wife of 35 years, Deborah D. Blevins Price.

Mr. Price was born in Havre de Grace to the late Marion George and Gertrude Rose (Ritter) Price. He was the loving father of Richard Joseph Price and his wife Melissa Carlile-Price and Heather Renee Hall-Beaty and her husband Raymond Beaty. He was the adoring grandfather of Tyler Christopher Hall. Mr. Price is survived by his brothers John Robert Keithley and his wife Vera and Richard Owen Price and his wife Joanne.

After graduating from Edgewood High School in 1964, he worked at Acme markets, Lee Sports, he was also a salesman for the B & G Polander Foods until retirement. After retirement he worked as a broker for the D & G Brokerage Firm. He was a member of the Edgewood Presburry United Methodist Church, Masonic Lodge #130, Elks Lodge in Havre de Grace and a former member of the Jaycee’s.

Some of his many enjoyments were crabbing, fishing, politics, reading and researching the Civil War and WWII. He was an avid golfer and was on two different golf leagues, the Marywood and the Pilgrim Oak. As a native Marylander, he was a fan of the Orioles baseball and the Ravens football teams. He was a volunteer for the Harford County Public Schools, where he served as chairman of the Copy Center, head of the Patriot Program at Hickory, Red Pump and Bel Air Middle School. He wrote two books including The Millennium Scheme.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, Dec. 19, 2016, at noon at the Zellman Funeral Home, P.A., 123 S. Washington Street, Havre de Grace, MD 21078. Officiating the service will be Pastor Norman Obenshain.
