Massive Equipment Transport Postponed in Harford County

Transport of electrical generation equipment from the Vulcan quarry has been postponed, State Highway Administration reports.

Road closures in Harford County related to a heavy equipment transport have been postponed.

Originally, several roads were to have detours and rolling closures in place Monday and Tuesday so that Barnhart Crane Services could move heavy electrical generation equipment from Vulcan Materials in Havre de Grace to the Pennsylvania state line, according to the State Highway Administration.

Harford County put out a call to citizens on Friday evening to alert them.

Now, the State Highway Administration reports the large move with Barnhart Crane Services has been postponed, and a new date has not yet been determined.

When it is set, officials will have to take several measures to ensure a smooth transport. For example, transportation officials say they need to install a “jump bridge” on MD 161/Darlington Road to protect the State Highway Administration’s bridge over Deer Creek from the massive weight.
